The Cargo Ship is the apex mobile raid event. It is not a hostile boss — it is an objective that must be chased, boarded, and captured. Successful capture instantly skips the mid-game processing bottleneck by providing enough Iron Ore and Advanced Fuel to push the Bonfire to the next tier without additional grinding.
Velocity matching
Use Engine + Steering Wheel before chasing. Paddle-only approach will overshoot constantly in crosswinds. The Engine + Steering Wheel combo is mandatory for this encounter.
Hull Climb
Vertical traverse once you have matched velocity. The cliff geometry is forgiving — there is no fall damage exploit to worry about.
Upper Deck Clear
Engage and clear all guarding NPCs. Do this before looting the bridge chest — leaving one alive will flag you as hostile to reinforcements.
Bridge Capture
Final captain with bonus-tier drops. The bridge chest is the most valuable single drop in the game. Open it in-place — breaking it from range voids the bonus-tier drops.
Strategic timing
If you capture a Cargo Ship between Day 50 and Day 65, you effectively skip the entire Industrial Phase grind. The 80–140 Iron Ore and 40–60 Advanced Fuel drops are often more than your entire base needs for the rest of the run.
