A full day-night cycle lasts approximately 4.5 real-world minutes - 3 minutes of daytime gathering and 1.5 minutes of nighttime defence. The full 100-day lifecycle is approximately 7.5 hours of active play, though Bonfire fuel efficiency, Radio Tower intelligence, and +1 Day Multiplier buildables can cut that significantly.
If the Bonfire reaches zero fuel, health regeneration halts, the map becomes inaccessible, and high-threat entities spawn with 100% probability - frequently inside your own stronghold. Treat the Bonfire fuel economy as the defining survival mechanic of the game.
Solo play is fully viable but expensive in operational overhead. Companions (rescueable NPCs) provide passive buffs and automate low-tier tasks. For raid-tier encounters like the Lord of Lava or Ghost Pirate Stronghold, a crew of 2-3 is strongly recommended.
27 players per server instance. This is a hard cap set by the developers - it cannot be raised via private servers or matchmaking manipulation.
Locate three Fire Golems patrolling the Volcano Region's lower slopes, defeat each one, then physically transport their bodies and throw them into the active caldera. The thermal interaction triggers the eruption phase. After the eruption, descend into the caldera to engage the boss.
The Magma Staff is a guaranteed 100% drop from the Magma Chest after defeating Lord of Lava. It is the only source of the weapon in the game. Bring Lava Keys to repair or re-roll the staff's durability.
